Stem: branched, woody at the base; Leaves: simple, linear to lanceolate, narrowly cuniate at the base, the apex acuminate; Flower: solitary, axilary, epigynous; Fruit: a capsule, subterete, lower portion narrower, marked by distinct bumps corresponding to the position of the nodes; Seed: lower portion of the capsule, oblong, firmly embedded in a hard endocarp, seeds of upper enlarged portion of the capsule shorter than the lower seeds, free pale brown in color.
